Have you ever considered taking care of your varicose veins? These enlarged, twisted veins most commonly appear in the legs and are a result of weakened or damaged valves within the veins. As a result, blood can pool in the veins, causing them to become swollen and distorted.
What are varicose veins and spider veins?
Muscular action helps blood push back to our heart.
Against the gravity, valves prevent it from flowing backwards. When valves are not working properly, a pool of blood accumulates instead of returning to the heart. This is how varicose veins are recognizable, often appearing as enlarged or dark coloured veins.
While some individuals may have varicose veins that are unnoticeable, others may experience more pronounced symptoms. Skin over the affected area may become discoloured, leading to a reddish or bluish appearance. In some cases, individuals may develop skin ulcers near the affected veins.
What can we do to improve varicose veins and spider veins?
After many years of practising remedial massage, I have noticed varicose veins can impact the surrounding nerve system. The presence of varicose veins and spider veins can sometimes lead to the disruption of the local nerve system. This can result in reduced sensation in the affected area, meaning that you may not experience as much pain or discomfort as would be expected given the severity of the condition. This phenomenon can make it particularly important to address varicose veins, even if they do not cause immediate discomfort, as they may still indicate underlying circulatory issues that need attention.
Taking steps to manage varicose veins can help alleviate discomfort, improve the appearance of the affected area, and ensure that the condition doesn’t worsen over time. Regular massaging can be effective in managing varicose veins and spider veins. Also combining low -level laser therapy can help reduce the affected areas.
